day 14 – the national

November 14, 2013

photo

it wasn’t like a rain, it was more like a sea

his voice caught fire
on the way out of his mouth
and it drowned out every other sound
in my head

but the two second silences
between songs
were the loudest

and by the end of the show
he’d bled out all his sorrow
and i wondered
if this was the last time
if it was always the last time

I love your poetry. I have been missing the mindful Mondays, and this was just the thing to fill that void. Beautiful words…

What a brilliant band! – words cannot express how much I love The National! But your poem here does them justice (and a nice hats-off to their lyrics!)! Saw them too a few nights ago – an amazing experience. I love their poetic & mysterious lyrics & sound – conoisseurs of all those big baritone emotions 🙂
