day 4 – the size of my face

There are many things in life that are hard but a cookie the size of your face is not one of them.

The Brits might do crumpets and they certainly have the monopoly on biscuits and scones and jam and everything dainty and tea time-y but what the brits do not do nearly as well as yo’ mama is chocolate chip cookies.

And you North Americans know that there are few things as satisfying as the smell of hot chocolate chip cookies straight from the oven. And so, I feel it is my duty to introduce these sweet orbs of awesome to the roster of puddings in this household. Never mind that it is nearly impossible to find a bag of chocolate chips bigger than a hobbit’s hand in these shops (what is this? a bag of chocolate chips for ants?). I am committed to the cause because it’s getting cold outside and my body demands the stuff of my youth. I don’t want a damn biscuit, I want a proper cookie! Omm Nom Nom!

I know I’m not the only one to have typed “best chocolate chip recipe” in Google before. I’m still, after all these years, searching for the best chocolate chip cookie known to man. Should one be a purist? Or add secret ingredients – peanut butter, coconut, oatmeal, nuts? Should one go the traditional route and choose a recipe that has been handed down generations? Or go for the healthy alternative — cut the sugar by half (totes) or even replace it altogether with apple sauce? Does one bake the  soft and chewy kind or the large crispy ones?

So many questions. And so it is that I find myself on a mission, dear readers, and I need your help.

What’s the best chocolate chip cookie recipe out there, people? I need to know.  Please, would you be so kind as to send your recipes my way?

P.S. Dear ass, I apologise in advance for the massive intake of sugars and fat that is about to take place. Don’t worry, you’ve been through it before. We’ll perk you up again in the Spring.

It feels like I have tried all permutations of chocolate chip cookie, too! It’s a hard choice to make when they’re all so good!

YUM. I love chocolate chip cookies! And? I go for the traditional soft and gooey cookie myself. And a cold glass of milk. But the appetizer is always the dough! Man! I wish my oven wasn’t broken, but I am kind of glad it is. xo
