hello march.
Holy crap! It’s the first day of March. How the hell did that happen?
In today’s news, I’m still unemployed, which, you know, kinda blows. But hey, there’s still lots to be grateful for and excited about, such as:
+ My sister and her husband are arriving tomorrow. Someone please pass the paper bag! I’m hyperventilating over here.
+ This trailer is giving me joy. Over and over and over again.
+ Hey look! I made a happy March Mix for y’all. You’re welcome.
+ This recently discovered blog, I love. The photos are so evocative.
+ This essay on Joy was a great (and funny) read via Brian Ferry.
+ These photos by Hula are the perfect colourful cure for the winter blues.
+ I am head over heels in love with Kinfolk’s films. This one in particular makes me long for summer and reminds me of how at peace I feel in nature.
+ Meditation. It’s the shit. I avoided it for so many years but I’ve been practicing diligently every single day since the beginning of the year and it is doing something to my molecular structure, people. I feel…. content, awake, aware.
+ This quote via miss Leonie makes me feel alive: “Please think about this as you go on. Breathe on the world. Hold out your hands to it. When morning and evenings roll along, watch how they open and close, how they invite you to the long party that your life is.” (William Stafford, from “A Valley Like This”)
What is bringing you joy these days?
Seeing you and Joe and exploring your city, new projects, my supportive husband, daily walks with my puppy, inspiring friends, possibilities…That’s what brings me joy these days.
What brings me joy? My whole family, the old family slides that I’ve been viewing, having a job (sorry about that one Jeanine), having tons and tons of books to read, having my yard full of about a dozen cardinals (never saw such a thing before), being semi at peace with myself and the universe, helping my mom move and feel good in her new place (this was a blessing for me). As for what will bring me joy in the future, it will be hearing about the J&J and M&M escapades. I smell giggles and trouble coming on. 🙂
Cool photos! I greet:)
Yes, March is always coming around rather quickly. It’s always like “Oh yesterday was New Year’s eve and now it is the 1st of March!” I know that very well.
What brings me joy: drinking tea in silence. 🙂
This post makes me happy!
and March is bringing me JOY xxx
What do you focus on during your meditation? I try to meditate, but it is so hard to still the mind. I think chanting would help me reel it in.
For real – THIS trailer:

makes me sooooooooo happy. I don’t even have to have it – just knowing it’s out there somewhere brings such great joy. And, man, I hope that link works ’cause it sure took up some real estate. Pretty sure the link is bigger than the actual trailer 🙂
And you loving meditation – that makes me happy too!
Sunshine! Flowers growing again and the promise that longer days brings. That and almost having my stuff arrive from the other side of the Atlantic! Good luck in the job hunt.
Lovely post my dear, as always. My joy for today is finally getting to go to BED. I am tired!
This trailer! This blog! Kinfolk! Looks like we like the same things 🙂
love your list…i should really get on the meditation thing. i’m just terrible at making myself still enough to do it. i can lay around and read a whole novel, but can’t seem to meditate on nothing for 10 minutes.
i loved your honeymoon pictures–duh! i haven’t checked in in ages. you two make such a sweet couple. 🙂
