5 days 39 minutes and 23 seconds
On this day last year, a day very much like this, when all the leaves had fallen from the trees in London and it was raining (again) and there was a winter chill in the air… the British Boy asked me to marry him on top of Hampstead Heath.
Many events have since transpired:
I moved back to Montreal
I got a temporary job at an engineering firm
We got married in a log cabin in Lake Placid
Joe flew back to England
I applied for, waited with fingernail biting anticipation and received a UK spousal visit
I moved back to England
I applied for work for 2 long months
I got a new job (contract)
I started smoking
I turned 37 years old
I quit smoking
I got another new job (contract)
I started smoking again (I KNOW!)
We planned a wedding for 6 months
We got married – again
I got another new job (contract)
I had many, many meltdowns
I had many, many joyous moments
And now, a year later we are FINALLY going on honeymoon.
This year has been a wild ride and I still haven’t had a chance to process it all. But come Saturday morning, Joe and I are going to sit our asses down on a plane and chill the fuck out for 5 weeks and marvel at the year that has passed. And maybe I’ll quit smoking once and for all.
All the leaves have fallen from the trees in London and it is raining (again) and there is a winter chill in the air… Miles away in Delhi the sun shines and it is a mighty 24 degrees.
