peas and carrots

August 24, 2011

One of the great things about living with a poet & photographer extraordinaire is having someone to talk shop with over a glass of wine at the end of the day.  Leonie and I are constantly bouncing ideas off each other  for collaborations and secretly hating the cool girls who’ve already “done it”. Why didn’t WE think of that is a weekly question in the Wise household. Mark my words though peeps, one of these days we’ll come up with something that will blow your freaking minds. But until that stroke of genius comes and because we can’t deny the playful souls within, we’re working with what we got and what we have is this: 2 girls, one with a digital camera, one with film. This girl goes camping on the river Wye for the weekend while that girl flies to Istanbul for a wee sojourn. So what you got here is a little English-Turkish fusion, folks. Green, grassy countryside meets arid, ancient byzantine city. I just love the way these photos come together. Don’t you?

I strongly encourage you to look at them on a larger scale, because you NEEDS to see that kitten up close. Trust me on this one. (Warning: so cute your head might explode. Or, as my brother in law likes to say when my sisters and I get together, we often create an unholy trinity of ear-splitting sonic weaponry that sometimes makes him convulse and forget who he is for a minute (his exact words). That might very well be the kind of sound that comes out of your mouth when you see how squishy that kitty is.)

As I mentioned on Leonie’s blog, I love these! It’s such a great, and yet simple, idea for a collaboration. I have to admit, I’m a bit jealous of you two. Now you’re the “cool girls”. 😉

Oh, I love the pairings. And I think I love them even more because of the friendship and sharing that is stitched between them. That kitty…I want to kiss, but is it bad that I want the pig to suck on my finger too?
