day 28: expired

August 28, 2010

a while back, my lovely neighbor zoï gave me a bag of expired film when she saw me walking around the hood, shooting with my pentax. i recently put some of it to the test.

film: 120
camera: holga
expiry date: 1992 (almost 20 years old)
settings: accidentally left on B (long exposure) for some of the day shots. oops.
effect: ghostly, spooky, ugly, beautiful, eerie, old-fashioned, interesting, nostalgic?

what do you think? can something past its “prime” still be beautiful in its own way? i’m thinking, hells yes.

hells yes. i love the way the edge of the road looks like it’s become a wave and is running over the edge.

I LOVE these and am so inspired because one of the items on my last list (I think it was my last list which, by the way, your post on the waning days of summer inspired) was to go on a date with my Pentax ME Super and all my expired film.

My favourite is you (I’m assuming) laying in the grass with the buildings in the background. And, even though they’re a bit vague, I’m diggin’ those shoes, too!

Neat! Kind of exciting to have to wait n see…so much instant gratification…isn’t anticipation half the fun anyway?

    It has artistic merit. Like.

Oh, yes. Extremely beautiful. In fact, I think better because it is unique and unreproduceable. I love it!

I really liked these, so interesting and intriguing. I just wanted to study each one. How can 1992 be that long ago? God. I am getting old.

Oh, all you said. I like it! Very interesting. 1992…oh my…I remember my very first job!
