list 16: when i space out, this is where i go

June 14, 2010

When I get that blank stare in my eyes, it either means that I need coffee STAT or I have gone to one of my happy places. The difference between a sleepy blank stare and a blank blank stare is subtle but the end result is the same: I am not on this plane of existence. This week’s blank stare is brought to you by a special blend of fatigue and a need to postpone my trip back to reality after a crazy awesome week of birthday celebrations (which included a visit to my osteopath, seeing Future Islands and hanging out with the band members until 2am on Tuesday, flowers from the British boy (delivered at work), Arcade Fire playing a surprise free concert in a mall parking lot just outside of Montreal, meeting a tattoo artist (design in the works, inking next Thursday), a BBQ on my patio under tiki lanterns with dear (and damn funny) friends and seeing Cirque du Soleil’s Totem with my parents).

Birthdays, for me, are always a time to take stock. I managed to cross a few things off last year’s list and intend to draft a list of 35 things to do before I turn 36, but until I get around to that, this week’s list is in photos. Places I’ve been to and little moments in time that I revisit when I need to escape (or, as is the current case, when I have an inability to do anything beyond blinking).

PS. Thanks to all those that signed up for the cd swap. I’m so excited to hear what musical gems your shuffle conjures up. I’ll be sending out mixes within the next couple of days so if anyone else still wants to join, give me a shout.

Been traveling – in Nova Scotia for several weeks. I just returned home last night – Can I still get in on the CD swap? Lu-u-u-u-v the whole concept – would love to play if I’m not too late.

    Even if I can’t play I still your blog rocks (no, that’s not a bribe – it’s sincere :))
