providence

January 7, 2009

sun snow

“The moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no (human) could have dreamed would come his way.” – Goethe

Last year, it felt like I was in one of those snow globes, shaken rather vigorously, and perhaps even dropped a couple times for good measure.   But I believe it was necessary for my world to be turned upside down so that I may find my bearings… back to me.   Now, a year later, all the snow has fallen gently to the ground and I can finally look out the glass sphere without a blizzard clouding my vision.  And I am seeing things, so clearly.  Everything that was, has led to what will be, and I’m starting to believe it’s going to be magnificent.

This year, I am committed to finding the exit door and taking that first step on the yellow brick road.  I’m committed to saying yes and showing up for life.  You never know what will happen or where you’ll end up once you take that first step.  But one thing’s for certain, if you don’t take it, you end up right where you started.  And I’m not really down with that, I’d rather start walking.  Now I just need me a pair of kick ass ruby slippers for the road.

What are you committed to doing this year?  What is your mantra for 2009?  Perhaps it’s only 1 word – begin, love, nurture, patience, courage?

Perseverance. And by that I don’t mean “endure” but rather what my late mother-in-law used to call “stick-to-it-iveness”.

    List making

I was told by a wise woman that this is the way to getting things accomplished. And you know what? So far it’s working. 🙂
