day 19 – somewhere over the rainbow

November 19, 2008

rainbows

Given that I am in the throws of what seems to be a sinus cold and my brain is about as useful as a windshield wiper on a submarine, I won’t even try to write anything of substance this evening.   If you’re looking for me, you’ll find me somewhere over the rainbow, far from this mind fog, in my own private la-la land, warm and cozy under a pile of blankets, head resting peacefully on my pillow, hoping, against all hope, that I dream of Ryan Gosling (ladies, beware, side effects of watching this video may include drooling, heart palpitations, tingles, hallucinations, pupil dilation and falling in love.)

We were made to enjoy music, to enjoy beautiful sunsets, to enjoy looking at the billows of the sea and to be thrilled with a rose that is bedecked with dew… Human beings are actually created for the transcendent, for the sublime, for the beautiful, for the truthful… and all of us are given the task of trying to make this world a little more hospitable to these beautiful things.– Desmond Tutu

I really like the two rainbow pictures together. Nice.
It’s funny you should use rainbows today. For the past couple of days I’ve been stuck on that song where they sing, “Here is that rainbow I’ve been praying for, it’s gonna be a bright bright bright bright sunshiny day.”
I got a huge chuckle out of you saying “as useful as a windshield wiper on a submarine”. Hee hee
So sorry about the sinus cold. I hope you kick its butt a.s.a.p.

Loved the rainbow pics! So, we are suffering together this week. I have a rotten cold which turned into bronchitis, and the past two days have been horrible. The good news is I’m feeling a little better; the bad news is now I’m in the gross stage. I’ll spare you the gory details. Yuck. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

That’s a beautiful quote. I hope that you get over your cold soon. I guess it’s that time of year. I’ve been drinking hot lemon tea by the gallon full hoping that it will stave off any microbes that might be lurking.

Loved the “as useful as a windshield wiper on a submarine” too. I’m going to borow that someday!
